House bill would add flexibility to 14-hour regs

A bill proposed by Representative Brian Babin of Texas would allow drivers to a break of up to 3 hours which does not count against the 14 hour on duty limit.

Representative Babin’s bill essentially reflects the petition filed by OOIDA with the FMCSA. The bill is supported by OOIDA.

The bill’s filing comes as FMCSA is in the process of studying adding hours of service flexibility.
