There were 126 cargo thefts, which is a 10 percent decline from the first quarter of 2017. The average loss per theft was $140,162. Compared to the second quarter of 2016, cargo thefts were down 28 percent.
The most stolen products were food & drink (17%), home & garden (16%) and electronics (13%).
The states with the most cargo thefts were California (29%), Texas (15%), Tennessee (12%), Florida (9%) and Georgia (4%).
There were 110 tractors and 109 trailers reported stolen in the second quarter. Truckload thefts (74%) accounted for most cargo thefts.
